Ashley was born in New York and raised by Trinidadian and Guyanese parents. She has 12 years of experience in the mental health field, a certificate of completion in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and has completed substantial training in trauma-informed care and CBT. She also has been a yogi for 11 years, a yoga instructor for 5 and completed prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher training.
Ashley decided to open Blossom and Grow Wellness Center because she believed black pregnant and postpartum women deserved way more support than they were getting.
Ashley has dedicated her therapy work to focusing on perinatal mood disorders (postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and more) and strictly working with black women because the stigmas that exist make it difficult for them to access and feel comfortable receiving care and she wanted to change that.
The goal of Blossom and Grow Wellness Center is to be a one-stop-shop for wellness, self-care, and community for black women in Columbia, Maryland.
She figured that Columbia was a central enough location that women from Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County, Montgomery County and Prince George’s County could all benefit.
